about annette

I have been practicing Hatha Yoga since year  2000, and received my 200 hour teaching certification from Yoga Alliance in 2009. I have been blessed to learn from many Iyengar and Ashtanga teachers over the past 19 years. Currently I practice Ashtanga yoga at Ashtanga Yoga Nilayam, with Certified Ashtanga Yoga Teacher, Noah Williams.
Working in Corporate Businesses for many years, I became aware of how much stress could hold people back from doing what they love to do. Upon receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Business and Finance in 2006 from California State University Northridge, my quest to harmonize body, mind, and spirit led me to study yoga and philosophy in more depth. So I developed a strong interest in health, physical fitness and nutrition. Having taken many courses and workshops in healing modalities; Pranic Healing and Ayurveda, I also developed strong intuitive experiences working with clients and yoga students.
My passion is to share the positive effects yoga and healing has had upon my life and to teach healing through movement. With many years of education and experience in music, I strongly feel that incorporating music can also make a huge difference in the healing process of the physical, mental and emotional bodies. Hence, I incorporate music in all my classes; especially for younger children. I see how music can help them learn the poses in a more fluent fashion.
For me, yoga is about awareness, and inner change, and that continues to draw me to my mat. Although I love a strenuous physical practice of Ashtanga yoga, and the stillness I experience throughout the day; the joyful and playful atmosphere I experience when teaching kids has transformed my life in many folds.
My classes are warm and inviting and accommodate all levels of experience, and I use a mixture of yoga styles to assist my students find peace, love and joy into their everyday lives.
